Jerry’s first novel Gift of the Bambino was about a boy and his grandfather, and their love of baseball. The story gets going in 1914 with Babe Ruth’s first professional home run which took place in Canada in the minor leagues. While this is fiction, that home run was historical fact and led Jerry on a journey to learn more about the greatest star the game has ever seen.
He later met members of the Ruth family, including the Babe’s daughter Julia Ruth Stevens and grandson Tom Stevens. Years of research culminated in the non-fiction book BABE RUTH – A Superstar’s Legacy, published in 2018. This is not a biography, but the first book to explore the enduring legacy of Ruth on many fronts including film, literature, culture, and most definitely, business, branding and marketing.
Indeed, Babe Ruth was the first marketing superstar. Jerry later produced a 5 part podcast series with the Acme Podcasting Company, "Babe Ruth Master Marketer" which included interviews with people he had met in writing his book.
